- Date: June 24th 1998.
- Description: VIRAL SENSING SCREEN SAVER ACESOFT.
- Version: 6.00 VIRAL SENSING VERSION.
- Purpose: A command line VDU idler and tamper sensor.
- *****************************************************************************
- Viral Sensing Screen Saver by ACESOFT.
-
- It's small, compact, efficient and very useful in it's function of preserving
- your valuable monitors phosphate screen.
-
- AV3S will also play soothing note sequences through any Adlib compatible
- soundcard as well as alter screen and cursor colours from DOS without the
- need of an ANSI driver.
-
- AV3S also acts as a super memory efficient early warning system to detect
- viral infection before it does lasting damage to the rest of your software.
-
- Registered copies are unique in their scrambling and so are an order of
- magnitude more difficult for intelligent viral sabotage.
-
- Unregistered copies have a ten minute limit on continuous use of the
- shareware version of AV3S.
-
- Invaluable to all DOS 3+ users owning an 8086 XT or better.
- *****************************************************************************
-
- Detailed Description:
-
- AV3S is primarily a low memory use screen saver that can be called
- either from the DOS prompt or from a bat file or other program such as
- WordPerfect.
-
- If Share Ware the Program is for Demonstration Purposes Only and
- Should be Registered. To emphasise this point the Share Ware version has a
- 10 minute turn off feature. The Registered Program is Licensed for Use on
- One Machine only.
-
- The second major use for AV3S is virus detection. AV3S does not
- however protect your system from viruses it is merely intended to detect when
- AV3S has been corrupted or altered in any way. At this point your system
- should be cleaned up using a system such as that by McAfee, Inc..
- AV3S could be thought of as being analogous to a car oil light:
- AV3S.COM V6.0x is a crude but simple method of damage limitation.
-
-
- AV3S has:
-
- 1). Windows compatibility.
- 2). Command line help/info call. /H /?
- 3). Allow setting of cursor attributes. /Ann
- 4). A screen clear call. /C
- 5). A check for DOS version 3+.
- 6). Adlib or Adlib compatible sound card support.
-
- Last but not least AV3S was written in assembly language and is meant
- to be memory efficient. In this spirit the screen saver is a black screen
- only. However to satisfy those with less Spartan tastes I have added the
- all important 'Bells and Whistles' in the form of flashing keyboard LEDs and
- a crude tune playing system that will work on any machine with or without an
- Adlib/Sound Blaster clone card.
-
- *****************************************************************************
- **DO NOT**
- Think of AV3S as total virus protection.
- Alter AV3S in any way e.g. using PKLITE or adding validation codes.
- Change the name of AV3S.
-
- *****************************************************************************

-
- Use the S/s option with **extreme** caution and at your own risk, however
- it will force AV3S to try to play through port 0398/9h regardless of the
- existence of a compatible device.
